5 minutes in the car with the boys

Some of you have been in a car with the boys. If you haven't, here is a snapshot from today. Setting: after haircuts headed to play baseball before dinner.

David on phone to Anna: OK, so we'll be back around 5:45.

Max to Olin: Olin, we need to hurry. We only have 56 minutes to play.
(I look at the car clock. It says 5:49).
Max: Daddy, can I have a rice cake?
Me: We're all out, Max.
Max: Can you look?
Me (glancing over at the passenger seat): All out, Max.
Max: But you just went to the store. We probably have some in the trunk.
Me: There are none in the trunk, Max.
Max: Can I look?
Me: Max, you are strapped in a seat and we're driving down the road. How do you expect to look in the trunk?
Max: Oh, PLEASE can I have a rice cake?
Olin: BLUE, Daddy, BLUE.
(There is a toggle switch in the Mini to change the color of LED lights above the dash. I change it to BLUE).
Olin: PURPLE, Daddy. PURPLE.
Max: That's a girl color, Olin. Say Orange.
Olin: ORANGE, Daddy. ORANGE.
(I switch it to Orange).
Max: Daddy, why can't I have a rice cake?
Olin: I got two rice cakes, Max. You only got one.
Max: I had two million and three.
